Curry with Eric Pickles - Labour comes out fighting

Tories offer their supporters a curry with Eric Pickles; we offer a night out with Eddie Izzard. I will leave you to decide what is the more attractive option, but if pick Eric, you're either insane or very hungry. (And bear in mind, he's probably going to eat quite a lot of it himself...) Anyway, here's an email from Miliband the Younger:

"With only a few days to go until the Copenhagen summit, thousands of people are playing their part in getting a deal.

Eddie Izzard is offering you the chance to win two tickets to his Wembley gig on Saturday if you email your friends about the Ed's Pledge campaign by Wednesday. Click to ask your friends to support Ed’s Pledge now Thousands of people will also be attending the Wave march in London on Saturday. The more people who attend, the stronger our voice will be. I hope to see you there.

Sign your friends up to the campaign now – and be entered into a draw to win Eddie Izzard ticketsIn the days before the Copenhagen summit, it’s essential that every last voice stands up and says that we must get a deal. Bring your friends into the campaign to secure a real climate change deal at Copenhagen

Thank you, Ed"

I think you've got this a little mixed-up Kerry: the Eric prize, which incidentally was hotly contested, was a fun incentive for supporters to engage in online campaigning.

The online lobbying is a seperate functionality that we've just introduced which makes it easy for those supporters, and others, to write to people like you.

p.s. thanks for commenting on the blog - it was approved straight away

But the curry was plugged in an blopost headed up 'online lobbying', as well as in the email to me. My main point though was, how come you're sending me emails on two separate accounts - my work and personal addresses - when I have certainly never signed up to myconservatives? Where are you getting those addresses from? Are you paying for them?

I believe Craig Elder has been in dialogue with you about that. Someone registered, but never verified, a KerryMP MyConservatives account with your parliamentary address. Don't know about personal address, but I do know we don't send them unsolicited.

Well it wasn't me! I can see how someone could purport to be me and use my parliament email address, but not my personal address. I don't get activist emails on that, but general puff from Cameron and Pickles. Definitely not solicited.

I used to get begging letters from you lot, pre-1997, in the days when I was a Labour councillor. Always assumed it was because I'd registered to look at the Telegraph website.

When can we make a curry with Eric Pickles?
